Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. We offer both in-person therapy and telehealth sessions.
Our in-person sessions take place in our warm, comfortable office in Midtown Phoenix. We also offer secure telehealth therapy for clients throughout Arizona, which many people find helpful for flexibility and accessibility.
-
Your first session is a space for us to get to know you, not just what’s bringing you in, but what your life has felt like recently.
We’ll talk about what led you to seek therapy, what you’re hoping for, and any relevant context like relationships, family history, work, health, identity, or life transitions that may be shaping your experience.
By the end of the session, your therapist will offer initial thoughts about how they may be able to support you and what working together could look like moving forward.
There’s no pressure to have everything figured out. Many people start therapy simply knowing something feels off or overwhelming.
-
Our standard private pay rate is $185 per 50-minute session.
We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as HSA and FSA accounts, which many clients use to make therapy more accessible using pre-tax funds.

Insurance coverage can vary widely depending on your specific plan. Even within the same insurance company, benefits for mental health services can look different.
During your initial consultation, we help you verify your benefits so you understand your costs before beginning therapy.
-
If we are not in-network with your plan, you may still have out-of-network benefits that can help offset the cost of therapy.
We’re happy to provide documentation (a superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
We also use Thrizer to help simplify this process. Thrizer can submit superbills directly on your behalf and reduce the steps involved in using your out-of-network benefits.

You don’t need to figure that out alone.
Different therapists at Orange Tree Psychotherapy specialize in different areas, and part of our consultation process is helping you find the best fit based on what you’re looking for.
You can also explore our therapist pages to get a feel for each person’s style, approach, and specialties.
-
We’re not a one-size-fits-all practice.
Our therapists bring different perspectives and specialties, but share a few core values:
Warm, honest, grounded care
No pressure, jargon, or gimmicks
Inclusive, affirming therapy for LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients
A focus on understanding patterns, not labeling people
Practicing what we preach, staying grounded in our own humanity as therapists
Deeply connected to and supportive of our local communities
Our work is collaborative and grounded. We don’t believe you need to be “fixed”; instead, we’re here to support you in building deeper self-understanding and discovering more compassionate ways to relate, respond, and move through your life with greater ease.
-
The first step is a brief consultation call where we talk about what you’re looking for and whether we feel like a good fit.
From there, we’ll match you with a therapist who aligns with your needs and availability.

Because of this, we always recommend verifying your benefits before beginning therapy so you have a clear understanding of your expected costs.
During your initial consultation, we’ll help you review your coverage and answer any questions so there are no surprises.
Out-of-Network Benefits
If we are not in-network with your insurance plan, you may still be eligible for reimbursement through out-of-network benefits.
In many cases, clients are able to submit superbills (itemized receipts) to their insurance company for partial reimbursement. We’re happy to provide the documentation needed to support this process.
We also use Thrizer to help simplify this process. Thrizer can submit superbills directly on your behalf and reduce the steps involved in using your out-of-network benefits.
